Ranked among the top female players of India and in the tournament, third seeded Ankita Raina moved to the singles second round with a straight set win. 

This prestigious tennis tournament, being played at Indore Tennis Club, was inaugurated in the chief hospitality of Indore Police Commissioner Shri Rakesh Gupta. On this occasion, President of Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association Mr. Anil Mahajan, Secretary of Indian Tennis Federation Mr. Anil Dhupar, ITC Trustee Mr. B.S. Chhabra, Shri Arjun Dhupar, and Chief Referee Sheetal Iyer were present. 

The main round matches started on Tuesday. Ankita Raina, one of the top players of India in the first round matches and seeded third in this event, defeated Ya-Hsuan Li of Chinese Taipei 6-1, 7-6(7) in a match that lasted one hour and 36 minutes. Ankita played a steady game from the beginning and did not give any chance to the Chinese Taipei player in the first set. Lee definitely made a comeback in the second set and took the match to the tiebreaker by continuously saving her serve. But Ankita won the set and the match with her strong service and excellent forehand shots. In this match, Ankita hit 1 ace and committed only one double fault. 

Sixth seed Sohyun Park of Korea defeated wild card Riya Bhatia of India 6-3, 6-2. While Park made 5 double faults in the match, Riya made 9 double faults, due to which she had to suffer the consequences. Y. Mansouri of France stopped the journey of emerging tennis player Pahal Kharadkar of Indore in the first round itself. Yasmin defeated wild card Pahal 6-2, 6-0 in the main round in 59 minutes. Pahal played well, hitting three aces in the match and committing only three double faults, but Pahal could not save his serve.

Vaishnavi Adkar and Akanksha Nitture qualify; Maaya’s journey ends

 The third and final qualifying round matches were played on Tuesday morning. Sixth seeded Ozeki Michika defeated India’s wild card Maaya Revathi 5-7, 6-1, 10-6. India’s Akanksha Nitture caused an upset by defeating seventh seed Lee Gyeong Seo of Korea 3-6, 6-2, 10-7, while eighth seed India’s Vaishnavi Adkar defeated Suhitha Maruri of India 6-3, 6-2.
