Sumit Nagal defeated Geoffrey Blancaneaux in Round 1 of the ATP Bengaluru Open Challenger and spoke to the media post the match.
On the Round 1 win against Geoffrey Blancaneaux
It was a very solid match. I played pretty well. Nothing to really complain about – from the beginning towards the end. I hope I can keep this level up throughout the tournament. If that happens I’ll be in a very good spot.
On being back at the ATP Bengaluru Open Challenger
There have been a lot of good memories. Winning my first challenger in 2017. My tennis journey kind of started from Bangalore and I love, love coming back here. One of the very, very likable tournaments on the tour. So, there’s nothing to complain.
On the crowd support
I always have the crowd behind me. So, I enjoy it. So, why not, you know? If you’re in a good mood and you’re enjoying the tournament, things go well.
Whenever we are here playing in front of the Indian crowd, it feels very, very warm.
On the upcoming match against Coleman Wong from Hong Kong.
I need to focus on myself on Thursday. I don’t really know much about him, but we’ll be taking care of that.
On seeing kids come and support.
It reminds me of my childhood, when I would see someone who was playing on the tour. It brings back memory to when I was a kid. Nice that people are coming and watching and it was very solid crowd for a Tuesday evening. Whenever Indian tennis players are playing in the city, please do come, support us. It will be very, very nice to have you all. Thank you.
