Ankita Raina makes the final qualifying round at US open :  Weekly round-up for the week starting August 21

US Open

After some time, we had 3 Indians in main draw of a grand slam at US open this year in qualifying- Sumit Nagal in men and Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi in women.

Sumit got a tough draw against a top 100 player- Taro Daniel from Japan and he lost after putting up a decent fight particularly in second set.

Karman Kaur Thandi was on the verge of creating a big upset against 118th ranked French girl Oceane Dodin when she led 63 53 but lost from that position in 3 sets.

Ankita Raina though created an upset win in second qualifying round and made it to final qualifying round where she lost against Sweede Bjorklund.
