Wimbledon: Ankita Raina goes down to WR 167 Jessica Maneiro of Spain

Indian No. 1 Ankita Raina could not capitalise on a strong start where she was leading 6-3 6-6 (5-4) with 2 points away from winning the match, before bowing out in 3 sets to the WR 167 from Spain.

The Indian No. 1 had a brief medical timeout in Set 1 due to a shoulder niggle but stayed focused to pull off to a 6-3 set 1 win. In the 2nd set, Ankita was down 2-4 but broke back to make it 4-4 and then it continued on serve till the tie breaker.

After leading 5-4 in the tie-breaker with 2 serves to come, Ankita lost the momentum and the Spaniard seized the match by racing off to a 3-6 7-6 6-1 win over Ankita.
