Making their clay court debut, the successful pairing of Rohan Bopanna and Matt Ebden overcame a slow start to beat the tricky pair of Rafael Matos and David Vega Hernandez at the season’s first clay court Masters event in Monte Carlo. The pair won 3-6 6-3 10-8.
After being broken in their first service game, Bopanna and Ebden stayed super solid on serve and did not face even a single break point for the rest of the match. To top it, Bopanna finished the match with a trademark ace down the T from the ad-court and followed it up with a massive fist pump.
Incidentally, at Indian Wells too, where the pair won the title, Bopanna/Ebden met Matos/Vega Hernandez in the 1st round, and had beaten them in the super tiebreak.
