Top seeded Ankita Raina entered the singles semifinals and the doubles finals with local girl Prarthana Thombare at the Balaji Amines Solapur Open $25000 Women’s Tennis Tournament organised by Solapur District Lawn Tennis Association (SDLTA) and MSLTA under the auspices of the ITF, AITA sponsored by Balaji Amines and to be played at the MSLTA School of Tennis at the Divisional Sports Complex , Solapur.
In the quarter finals top seeded Ankita Raina quelled the challenge of Russian Ekaterina Yashina 7-6(0), 6-3 in 1 hr and 39 mins, in another match featuring Indian player eighth seeded Priska Madelyn Nugroho Indonesia stopped the run of qualifier Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty 6-2, 6-2 to make the semifinal.
Third seeded Anastasia Kulikova Finland scraped past a fighting qualifierMananchaya Sawangkaew 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in the longest match of the day lasting 2hrs, 12 mins Russian Daria Kudashova completed the quarter as she downed another qualifier Serbian Katarina Kozarov 6-2, 6-3.
Top seeded Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare outplayed Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty and Vaidehi Chaudhari 6-3, 6-2 to enter the finals they will now take on second seeds Priska Madelyn Nugroho of Indonesia and Russian Ekaterina Yashina who scraped past Mananchaya Sawangkaew and Lanlana Tararudee Thailand 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.
