National Games Tennis Day 5 – Arjun Kadhe and Rutuja Bhosale win their respective matches in 3 sets to move into semis

Day 5 of the tennis events at Sabarmati Riverfront featured the QF matches of the singles event in both the categories. The doubles semis are also scheduled for later.

Arjun to face SD Prajwal, Manish Vs Manish in the second singles SF

Top seed from Maharashtra Arjun Kadhe survives a scare from Dhruv Hirapa of Gujarat. Arjun won the first set before Dhruv made a comeback to win the second set 6-4 hence forcing a decider. Arjun showed his class in the final set eventually winning the match 6-2 4-6 6-1.

Arjun will face 3rd seed SD Prajwal Dev from Karnataka in the semis who defeated Abhinav Sanjeev in straight sets 7-5 6-2.

2nd seed Manish Sureshkumar also prevailed against Delhi’s Shivank Bhatnagar. Shivank played a nice opening set forcing a tiebreaker but Manish stand firm to win the match 7-6 6-3.

AITA 5lakh Ranking tournament winner this year in July, Karnataka’s Manish G. made a huge comeback against 4th seed Karan Singh to win his QF match 3-6 7-5 6-2.

Rutuja Bhosale to take on Zeel Desai, Sharmada to face Yubrani Banerjee in next Semis

In what was expected to be cracker of a match between two experienced players, Rutuja survived Sai Samhitha in 3 sets. After losing the first set 6-1 Samhitha forced a decider winning the second set tiebreaker. Rutuja gave no chance to Tamil Nadu player in the third set as she won the match 6-1 6-7 6-0.

3rd seed Zeel Desai also moved into SF with a straight sets 6-2 6-2 win over Vanshika Choudhary of UP. West Bengal player Yubrani Banerjee who got walkover from Ankita Raina in the first round defeated young Aarthi Muniyan 6-1 6-2 to book her place in the semis.

4th seed Sharmada Balu made a comeback after losing the first set against Paavanii Paathak. The Karnataka player won the match 1-6 6-3 6-1.
