Shruti Ahlawat wins singles title at Asian Junior Championships

16 year old and India No.1 Shruti Ahlawat continued to shine on the big stage, winning her first ITF Junior title at the Grade 1 level. In a week where Ahlawat had it easy in most of her matches, the highlight was her win in the semi-final against Aussie Emerson Jones, where she came back from being 2-6 1-4 down to win 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Ahlawat also made the SF in doubles, partnering Yu-Yun Li from Chinese Taipei. But they had to concede their match because of an injury to her partner.

Post this win, Shruti is expected to move up to ~85 in the ITF Junior Rankings for girls, and should move into the Top 50 once the 2004 born juniors are taken out of the rankings at the end of 2022. This should seal her 2023 Junior Australian Open slot as well.
