Davis Cup Group I Playoffs: India to face Denmark in Denmark

ITF has announced the draws for the 2023 Davis Cup – Group I playoffs. India has been drawn to play Denmark again with the choice of venue given to Denmark.

The tie will be held over a couple of days between the timelines of 3-4 or 4-5 February 2023. Denmark will determine the dates.

India had hosted Denmark in 2022 for the World Group Playoffs in March and won the tie 4-0 with their ace player Holger Rune opting out of the tie. After the relegation, Danish team defeated El Salvador with a scoreline of 3-2 to get back to Group (Both Holger Rune and Mikael Torpegaard sat out the tie).

The top players in the Danish team are

  1. Holger Rune – WR 31
  2. Mikael Torpegaard – WR 546
  3. August Holmgren – WR 587
  4. Johannes Ingildsen – WR 642
  5. Elmer Møller – WR 879

Elmer is a talented junior with a career high of 21.

The last time Denmark hosted a home tie, it was held at Sydbank Arena, Kolding, Denmark back in September 2021.
