Indian doubles legend Rohan Bopanna, who has been having a prolific season on the ATP Tour, will compete with partner Matwe Middelkoop at the ATP 500 Citi Open in Washington DC, USA starting today.
Bopanna, at 42 years old, is the oldest player in the ATP Doubles Top 100, and has defied odds to break the Top 20 barrier once again in his career. Bopanna and Middelkoop had made the SF of the French Open earlier this year, and are gunning for a Top 8 spot in order to compete at the season ending ATP World Tour Finals in Turin, Italy.
The pair will take on wildcards Denis Shapovalov and Denis Kudla on Tuesday. It will be an interesting match as Bopanna partners with Shapovalov quite regularly, and Denis Kudla, being a DC boy, will have the crowd behind him.
