Rohan and Sania reach QF at Miami, Ankita wins doubles title in Australia : Weekly round-up for week starting March 28

Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza made the QF of mens doubles and womens doubles respectively at Miami Masters 1000 ATP event. This was the best run by Indian players at this level event in some time. On the way Rohan Bopanna along with Dennis Shapovalov upset the top pair in the world.

ATP Challenger Tour

Mukund played and lost in first round of singles qualifying while 3 Indian players played with different partners in different tournaments but lost in first round. Only success at challenger level this week was for the new pairing of Vijay Sunder Prashanth and Aniruddha Chandrashekar who upset the fourth seeds in the first round before going down in QF.

This week our women players continued in Australia on clay in Canberra. Good results for Ankita and Sowjanya here as Ankita made the singles QF coming thru qualifying and won the doubles title. Sowjanya also came thru the qualifying and reached the singles second round.

ITF Junior Tour

ITF junior circuit continued in India with last 2 tournaments in last 2 weeks.


Last week at Bhilai J5, boys singles title went to 17 year old Akarsh Gaonkar and girls singles title to Indian-American 16 year old Saina Deshpande.

This week at Madurai J5, boys singles title for 14 year old Rethin Pranav, girls title to 16 year old Laxmi Prabha, third consecutive title for her in 3 weeks that she played in this series.

SF, F and title for Rethin in 3 weeks that he played here. One to keep an eye on.
