Rohan Bopanna progresses to the third round of the US Open, Ramkumar reaches singles QFs in Mallorca : Week of 30th Aug – Indian Tennis Roundup

US Open

The US Open featured Rohan Bopanna, Sania Mirza, Divij Sharan and Ankita Raina in the doubles draw. Mirza partnered Coco Vandeweghe in the women’s doubles and Rajeev Ram in the Mixed event. Bopanna and paired up with Croatian Ivan Dodig, while Divij Sharan entered the draw alongside Kwon Soon-Woo as alternate. Ankita Raina played her 4th straight Slam in Women’s doubles this year.

Thirteeth seeds Bopanna/ Dodig have kept the Indian hopes alive by moving into the third round. All other pairs featuring Indians bowed out in the first round.

ATP Challenger Tour

Ramkumar made it to the QF of singles and semi finals of doubles ( along with Sriram Balaji) at Malorca Challenger in Spain. Sumit and Prajnesh lost in first round of challengers in Italy and France respectively.
