After a good three weeks on the green clay in the US, Sumit Nagal is finally showing some consistency in his results, as he made the SF in the ATP Samarkand Challenger in Uzbekistan. Elsewhere, Rutuja Bhosale bagged the RU trophy in doubles at the ITF $25K Singapore event. Here’s a summary
Sumit makes Samarkand Challenger SF –
Sumit notched up a few good wins, before losing to eventual winner Joao Menezes from Brazil in a tight three setter that was marred by rain delays.
At the back of this run, Sumit will rise up to 281 in the ATP Rankings, before he moves on to European clay, where he will start in Poznan, Poland, in the first week of June. He’ll train for a week or so in Germany, under his coach Sascha Nensel and fitness trainer Milos Galecic. Sascha Nensel has trained former top 10 players like Nicolas Keifer and Julia Goerges, while Milos Galecic used to work with our very own Somdev Devvarman in the past.
