Unseeded duo Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti have produced a stunning run to the finals of the Lyon ATP 250 event, upsetting multiple seeded pairs along the way. Their latest victory, a 6-3, 6-7, 10-7 triumph over top seeds and world No. 11 and No. 12 ranked Édouard Roger-Vasselin and Santiago González, has cemented their place in the championship match.

The Indo-French pairing began their Lyon campaign with a comeback win over fourth seeds Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia, overcoming a first set loss to take the match 2-6, 6-1, 10-5. They continued their momentum in the quarterfinals, defeating Matwé Middelkoop and Sander Arends in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6.

Bhambri and Olivetti’s semifinal upset of Roger-Vasselin and González is undoubtedly the highlight of their run. Despite facing a formidable pairing, they displayed exceptional teamwork and resilience, securing a hard-fought victory in a match tiebreak.

This remarkable performance in Lyon follows Bhambri and Olivetti’s recent success at the BMW Open, where they claimed their first title as a pair. This week’s run further solidifies their reputation as a formidable doubles team capable of challenging the world’s best.

In the finals, Bhambri and Olivetti will face Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten, who have also produced an impressive run to the championship match. This unexpected final promises to be a thrilling encounter, as both pairs seek to cap off their impressive weeks with a title victory.
