AHMEDABAD – The grassroots sports landscape in India just received a massive infusion of inspiration. The newly launched SRT10 Altevol Centre of Excellence recently welcomed cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar to its sprawling 40,000-square-yard campus. While the primary occasion was the formal inauguration of the center’s high-performance cricket academy, Tendulkar’s visit quickly evolved into a masterclass spanning multiple sports, deeply impacting young athletes across disciplines.
From Cricket Pitches to Tennis Courts
A known tennis enthusiast who famously grew up idolizing American tennis legend John McEnroe, Tendulkar proved that his passion for sporting excellence knows no boundaries. After engaging with eager young cricketers, the “Master Blaster” spent significant time on the tennis courts.
Tendulkar was seen observing intense training drills and interacting closely with Alexander Waske, the former German professional tennis player and co-founder of the Alexander Waske Tennis University, alongside Altevol’s Director of Tennis, Mr. Shrimal Bhatt.
Trainees and their families described the interaction as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Rather than just making a ceremonial appearance, Tendulkar stayed on the court to analyze form, offer core psychological insights, and share words of encouragement with the junior players.

The collaboration between Sachin Tendulkar’s SRT10 ecosystem and the Altevol Sports Academy represents a deliberate move to transition India from a sports-loving nation to a sports-playing nation.
While Altevol has been a dominant force in Indian tennis since 2019 – regularly producing Davis Cup players, Billie Jean King Cup (Federation Cup) players, Junior Grand Slam participants, and national champions – the integration of the SRT10 Cricket Academy expands its athletic horizons. To further cement its footprint as a true multi-sport hub, the center has announced upcoming state-of-the-art facilities for pickleball and badminton.
