Diya, Jensi, Arnav, Tavish Enter Semifinals at MSLTA Deccan Gymkhana Asia Oceania B1 Junior Tennis Championships

Pune, April 23, 2026: Diya Ramesh saved three match points to enter the girls’ semifinals alongside talented Jensi Kanabar, while Arnav Paparkar and Tavish Pahwa entered the boys’ semifinals at the MSLTA Deccan Gymkhana Asia Oceania B1 Junior Tennis Championships organized by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association and Deccan Gymkhana in association with PYC Hindu Gymkhana, played on the Deccan Gymkhana tennis courts.

It was a day of exceptional results for Indian tennis as four young Indian players continued their march into the semifinals, making it a momentous occasion for the organisers.

In a match lasting 3 hours and 26 minutes, seventh-seeded Diya Ramesh came back from being down 5-6 (30-40) and saved two match points to level scores at 6-6 in the third set against Japan’s Mai Sasaki. Diya kept her composure to come out a winner 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(1) and make it to the last four.

The Chennai girl Diya will take on fellow Indian Jensi Kanabar of Junagadh in the girls’ semifinal, ensuring an Indian player’s presence in the finals.

The 15-year-old Kanabar, playing percentage tennis, outplayed higher-ranked Japanese Yui Komada 6-1, 6-4.

Misaki Sekido of Japan and fourth-seeded Siyoen Sim of Korea will contest the other semifinal.

Local boy and second-seeded Arnav Paparkar was given a fight by South Korea’s Seung-Min Oh before prevailing 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Paparkar, the local favourite, will lock horns with fellow Indian Tavish Pahwa, ensuring an Indian player’s presence in the boys’ finals.

In the quarterfinals, Tavish Pahwa played smartly to defeat higher-ranked Samarth Sahita 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In the other quarterfinal matches, top-seeded Hyu Kawanishi of Japan outplayed South Korea’s Min Hyuk Cho 6-4, 6-3 and will take on fellow Korean Junseo Jang, who upset fourth-seeded Jake Dembo of Australia 6-3, 6-3.
