Aryan Shah/Atharva Sharma win doubles title at M15 Gwalior

Aryan Shah/Atharva Sharma win doubles title; singles title match to be played today.

The $15,000 International Men’s Tournament, sponsored by Round Glass and organized under the aegis of the Gwalior Chambal Tennis Association and the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, saw the men’s doubles final and men’s singles semi-final matches played yesterday.

In the men’s doubles final, the pair of Aryan Shah and Atharva Sharma defeated Ishaque Iqbal and Grigory Lomakin 2-6, 6-3, (11-9) to clinch the doubles title.

In the singles semi-finals, sixth seed Digvijay Singh defeated top seed Aryan Shah in a hard-fought match 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(7). In the other semi-final, Maan Kesarwani defeated Rohan Mehra 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(4).

Following the doubles final, a prize distribution ceremony was held where all the winners were presented with trophies. Present as special guests at the ceremony were Mr. Amit Sangi, DIG Gwalior; Mr. Aditya Sachdeva, Director, Round Glass; Mr. Kushwant Basra, Round Glass; Dr. M.P. Kaushik, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Amity University and former Director, DRDO; and Swapnil Agarwal, Amity University.

Members of the Rotary Club Gwalior Mahanagar were presented with mementos for their support of the tournament. Kriti Singh, Director of Goonj, was also presented with a memento. Vikram Awardee Mr. Anurag Thakur, senior tennis players Anil Chauhan and Ajay Swami, and Tournament Director Vikas Pandey were also present.

The program was conducted by senior tennis player Vivek Pandey.

The singles final match between Digvijay Pratap Singh and Maan Kesarwani will be played today at 9:00 AM at the GCTA.
