CHENNAI — Shrivalli Bhamidipaty made a successful debut at the WTA 250 Chennai Open, securing a first-round victory over fellow Indian Maaya Revathi with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 scoreline.

Following her win, Bhamidipaty was quick to praise her opponent. “I played one of the promising Indian players – Maaya,” she said. “She’s an amazing player and… a delight to compete against.”

Reflecting on her own performance in her first match at the event, Bhamidipaty expressed her satisfaction with handling the pressure.

“I think I held my nerves really well for the match,” she stated. “I just wanted to play my tennis and have fun, being my debut… I think I put up a good show and I was really happy about [it].”
