Prarthana Thombare Reaches Doubles Final at WTA 125 Hall of Fame Open
Indian tennis player Prarthana Thombare, alongside her Dutch partner Arianne Hartono, made a commendable run to the doubles final of the WTA 125 Hall of Fame Open this week in Newport, Rhode Island.
The third-seeded pair demonstrated strong form throughout the tournament, battling their way to the championship match on the historic grass courts. In a tightly contested semifinal, Thombare and Hartono overcame Kayla Cross and Maribella Zamarripa in a thrilling comeback, securing a 4-6, 6-3, [12-10] victory in the decisive super tie-break.
However, their impressive journey concluded in the final, where they faced the fourth-seeded American sisters, Carmen and Ivana Corley. The Corley duo ultimately claimed the title with a 7-6(4), 6-3 victory.
Despite the final loss, reaching the championship match at a WTA 125 event marks a significant achievement for Prarthana Thombare, highlighting her continued presence and competitive spirit on the professional circuit. This deep run in Newport adds valuable points and experience as she continues her doubles campaign in the 2025 season.
