Nagal beats World No.96 Tseng in Trieste from 4-0 down in Trieste

Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal (ATP Rank 296) produced one of his most impressive wins of the season, defeating top seed Chun-Hsin Tseng (ATP Rank 96) in a dramatic three-set battle at the ATP Challenger 100 in Trieste, Italy.

Coming through the qualifying rounds, Nagal continued his inspired run on the Italian clay, overcoming a rollercoaster of a match to beat the former Junior World No.1 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(5) in the opening round.

Nagal took the first set comfortably, but Tseng, a winner of Junior Roland-Garros and Junior Wimbledon, responded strongly in the second. The final set saw Nagal trail 0-4 and later 3-5, even saving a match point, before staging a stunning comeback to force and eventually win the tiebreak.

This win marks a major scalp for Nagal, who is looking to climb back up the ATP rankings after injury setbacks in previous seasons.

He now faces a challenging second-round clash against local favorite Marco Cecchinato, a former World No.16 and 2018 Roland-Garros semi-finalist.

With confidence high and momentum on his side, Nagal will aim to continue his impressive run in Trieste.
