Sumit Nagal to be India’s lone singles representative at Wimbledon

India’s top-ranked singles tennis player, Sumit Nagal, will be the country’s sole representative in the singles draw — across both men’s and women’s categories — at the prestigious 2025 Wimbledon Championships. The 27-year-old will compete in the Gentlemen’s Singles Qualifying, which kicks off on Monday, June 23.

This marks Nagal’s third appearance at Wimbledon. While he has previously competed at the All England Club, he is still chasing his first victory at the grass-court Grand Slam.

The qualifying rounds, held at Roehampton, are known for their high intensity and fierce competition, as players from across the world vie for limited spots in the main draw. Nagal will need to win three matches in the qualifying event to secure his place in the main tournament.

Currently ranked No. 300 in the ATP singles rankings, Nagal has been having a rough season on the tour. As India’s lone hope in singles at Wimbledon this year, all eyes will be on Nagal as he attempts to carry forward the legacy of Indian tennis at the hallowed lawns of SW19.

Stay tuned as Sumit Nagal begins his Wimbledon 2025 campaign on June 23.
