India’s lone representative at the first Grand Slam of the year, Rohan Bopanna, alongside Zhang Shuai, has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open mixed doubles event. The duo progressed after receiving a walkover from Hugo Nys and Taylor Townsend in the second round.

Bopanna and Shuai kicked off their campaign on Monday with an impressive straight-sets victory over Ivan Dodig and Kristina Mladenovic, winning 6-4, 6-4.

In the quarterfinals, they will face the winners of the match between Timea Babos/Marcelo Arevalo and John Peers/Olivia Gadecki.
