ITF J300 New Delhi: Maaya Upsets Fourth Seed; Excels in Singles and Doubles

15 year old Maaya Rajeshwaran delivered a stellar performance, toppling 4th seed and ITF WR No.60 Ada Kumru in the girls’ singles event at ITF J300 New Delhi. Starting strong with a dominant 6-1 first set, Maaya held her nerve in a tense second-set tiebreak to clinch the match 6-1, 7-6(1). She now faces France’s Manon Favier in the Pre-QF tomorrow.

In doubles, Maaya, partnered with Margot Phanthala, secured a thrilling victory over Polina Berezina/Daria Koreshkova, 4-6, 6-2, 10-5. The pair will take on Anna Perelman/Ekaterina Tupitsyna in the QF tomorrow.

Joining Maaya in the girls’ singles Pre-QF are Rishitha and Aishwarya, showcasing a strong Indian presence.

On the boys’ side, Rethin, Arnav, Samarth, Varun, and Hithesh advanced to the singles Pre-QF, making it a total of 8 Indians progressing in singles events.
