India to host 13 pro tournaments in first quarter of 2025

4 ATP CHALLENGERS, 1 WTA 125, 4 ITF WOMEN, AND 4 ITF MEN’S EVENTS IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2025 

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 16: The All India Tennis Association (AITA) understands the need to host international tournaments in the country and is pleased to announce that it has lined up 13  tournaments, including one WTA 125 and four ATP Challengers, in the first quarter of the 2025 season. 

The AITA representatives in a recent meeting with the WTA, ATP and ITF officials put forward  India’s case for more tournaments. The global leaders readily agreed to support AITA’s  endeavour in hosting tournaments for both men and women. 

AITA can confirm that three back-to-back ITF women’s event will be held in January 2025,  starting with a USD 40,000 ITF50 event from January 13, at New Delhi, A USD 100,000 ITF  women’s event will be hosted in Bengaluru from January 20 and will be followed by a USD  70,000 event in Pune. 

Mumbai will also host the second edition of. L&T Mumbai Open WTA USD 125K event is from  February 3. 

These four tournaments will offer over 350 WTA points and a combined prize purse of USD 350000 with a great opportunity for Indian women players to accelerate their growth. 

AITA is also very pleased to announce that they are waiting for the ATP Challenger Tour team  to confirm four ATP Challenger tournaments to be hosted in the month of February in Chennai  (From February 3), Bengaluru (From February 10), Pune (From February 17) and New Delhi  (From February 24). (Tentative Dates as final dates are yet to be confirmed) 

In the month of March, the men’s players will have the opportunity to compete in four back to-back ITF events. The venues will be announced soon. 

Overall, the women tournaments are worth USD 475,000 with 500 WTA ranking points on offer  while the men’s tournaments are worth USD 590,000 with 600 ATP ranking points at stake in the first quarter of the season 2025. 

The AITA team is also involved in discussions to bring at least 24 ITF events (men and women  combined) to India and is committed to create a robust ATP Challenger circuit for the men’s  players in the coming year. 

The AITA team understands the concerns of the players, and the tennis fraternity and is  determined to further grow the tennis landscape in India.
