“Happy to have Rohit Rajpal as our Captain” – Ramkumar Ramanathan

Excerpts from the press conference after India lost 0-4 to Sweden in Davis Cup. Indian singles & doubles player Ramkumar Ramanathan spoke to the press after the tie

Thoughts on the doubles match
In the second set, we were a little bit unlucky getting broken that game, the long game, you know, that could have definitely helped us to stay in the set. When you keep the match close even if it goes to a tie break we might have had the edge, but credit to those guys for playing, solid tennis and the crowd helped them.

We gave it our best shot – it was not our tie this time, but that doesn’t mean anything, we’re gonna come back, keep working hard and our time will come.

On the support staff

Thanks to everyone around. Captain discusses everything with us and it’s very transparent with the team. Happy to have Rohit Rajpal, as our captain and always it’s been fun for all the ties we’ve played. There’s always good energy around the team.

Hope we can keep it going and hopefully we can win the next time.
