Bopanna/Ebden Storm Into US Open Round 3

The second-seeded Indo-Australian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matt Ebden secured a commanding 6-2, 6-4 victory over Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena and Argentina’s Federico Coria in the second round of men’s doubles. They had earlier beaten the Dutch pair of Sander Arends and Robin Haase 6-3 7-5 in the 1st round.

Bopanna and Ebden showcased their experience and chemistry, delivering a clinical performance to seal their spot in the third round. Up next, they face the 16th-seeded Argentine pair of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni, with a spot in the quarterfinals at stake.

Bopanna and Ebden, last year’s finalists, remain one of the top teams to watch despite their relatively lean patch lately, with early exits in the Montreal and Cincinnati Masters events.
