Match Summary:
Anirudh and Arjun carried the momentum of yesterday’s win against the defending doubles champions into the first set of the quarter finals today. They started on a high by breaking the US team’s serve in the very first game. With 4 aces, 85% first serve success rate and all 4 second serve points won they had everything going for them in the first set which they won 6-4. They were first to return to the court after the breaks between the games and looked determined and eager to get on with the action.
The second set, for whatever reason, was a complete contrast. Harrison and Kirkov dominated the second set with their brilliant performances in return games. Anirudh and Arjun were broken twice and they lost the second set 1-6 rather quickly.
The two, however, rose to the occasion of their second tie breaker in as many days winning all of their second serve points. They closed out the match 6-4 1-6 10-7 in one hour two minutes overall.
They will now face yet another American wildcard pair of Robert Cash and James Tracy in the semifinals, either on Friday or Saturday.
