Sumit Nagal Confirms US Open Main Draw Spot

The trailblazing Sumit Nagal has secured his spot in the US Open main draw, achieving several milestones in the process. Nagal will be the first Indian player since Prajnesh Gunneswaran in 2019 to compete in all four Grand Slams (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open) in the same year.

Additionally, he’ll become the first Indian since Somdev Devvarman to appear in three or more US Open main draws. This will be Nagal’s seventh Grand Slam appearance overall and his third at the US Open.

As per the entry list released on Wednesday, Jannik Sinner is expected to be the top seed, Novak Djokovic the second seed, and recently crowned Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz as the 3rd seed.

Arguably, the US Open has been Nagal’s most successful Grand Slam so far. It is where Nagal made his Grand Slam Main Draw debut in 2019 against none other than Roger Federer, and took the first set off the Tennis maestro. He later claimed his first Grand Slam Main Draw win in 2020, again at the US Open.
