India’s Doubles No.2 and World No. 54 Yuki Bhambri and French partner Albano Olivetti will take on the all-Russian pair of Daniil Medvedev and Roman Safiullin in the 1st round of doubles qualifying at the ATP 500 Halle in Germany on grass courts.
Bhambri and Olivetti, who made the semi-final on grass at the ATP 250 Boss Open in Stuttgart, Germany earlier this week, got into the Halle qualifying draw as alternates, but have been given top billing in the draw, thanks to their high doubles rankings.
On the other hand, singles star Medvedev, who doesn’t generally play doubles on the circuit, is presumably playing doubles to prepare for the Paris Olympics later this year, where he is expected to take part in the doubles with compatriot Roman Safiullin.
