18-year-old Aryan Shah makes maiden Pro semi-final

Shah notched up three back-to-back wins to achieve the impressive feat

Promising prospect Aryan Shah made a remarkable comeback from a set and a break down to oust Jamaica’s local star John Chin at the ITF M15 Futures being played on hard courts in Kingston, Jamaica. Shah, currently ranked 1096th in the ATP Rankings, has reached his first semi-final at the Futures level, the entry tier to professional tennis.

This has been a particularly impressive run for Shah, as his win over Chin is more significant than it appears on paper. Chin had previously defeated 462nd ranked Leo Borg in the earlier round. Additionally, in the previous round, Shah had upset 7th seed Andrew Fenty, who was in the top 10 in the US college tennis circuit for two years. Shah was also a promising prospect in the international junior circuit, peaking at rank 39 in the world.

Shah’s Results This Week:
[R1] Aryan Shah (IND,1096) d. Abraham Asaba (GHA,1701) 6-1 6-0
[R2] Aryan Shah (IND,1096) d. Andrew Fenty (USA,978) 6-2 6-2
