Rithvik Bollipalli and Niki Kalyananda Poonacha are taking full advantage of the idyllic setting in Acapulco, Mexico, while also setting their sights on capturing the ATP Challenger GNP Seguros Tennis Open title.
The duo reached the finals of the tournament after a successful run, and in a post-match interview, they couldn’t help but rave about the beautiful location. “It’s unbelievable!” said Bollipalli. “We’re staying right next to the beach and having every meal with that view. We don’t get to do this often, so we’re embracing every moment, enjoying it, and taking it one day at a time.”
Poonacha echoed his partner’s sentiments, adding, “Mexico has been great for us. We performed really well in Acapulco last week, making it to the finals. I’m very happy and looking forward to the next match. We’re having a wonderful time here – thanks for the hospitality!”
Looking ahead, both players acknowledged the importance of their support system. When asked who motivates them during challenging moments on the tour, Bollipalli didn’t hesitate: “Hands down, it’s my parents and my grandmother. I think no one does a better job of taking care of me than them.” Poonacha concurred, saying, “I would say the same.”
Bollipalli and Poonacha will now face off against Luke Johnson and Skander Mansouri in the finals on Saturday, April 20th, at 4 PM local time. With their positive spirits and strong play, they’ll be hoping to end their Acapulco stay on a winning note.
