India’s Doubles No.2 and World No.62 Yuki Bhambri will make his ATP Masters 1000 doubles debut at the Miami Open presented by Itaú. Bhambri has competed in Masters 1000 events in the singles category earlier.
Bhambri, who recently made the semi-final at the ATP 500 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with Robin Haase, will compete with his good friend Michael Venus in this event. Haase chose to compete with Andreas Mies in this event.
Venus usually plays with Jamie Murray on the tour, but since Murray chose not to compete, Venus decided to pair up with Bhambri. It may be recalled that the pair of Bhambri/Venus reached the 3rd round of the 2014 Australian Open Men’s Doubles, beating the 10th seeds Rojer/Tecau along the way, before losing to Paes/Stepanek.
Bhambri joins Sumit Nagal and Rohan Bopanna as India’s representatives in Miami, a prestigious ATP Masters 1000 event.
