The M25 New Delhi ITF tournament witnessed another day of exciting matches on March 13th, 2024. 6 Indian players will be featuring in the second round of the singles event. Here’s a quick glimpse into the day’s action:
Kabir Hans emerges victorious in a battle between qualifiers
In the first match at court 1, Kabir Hans was up against fellow qualifier Yash Chaurasia. Hans won the match 6-3 7-6(2) and will now face a tough challenge in the form of top seed Evgeny Donskoy in the second round. This is Kabir’s first singles main draw win of the season.
Young Manas Dhamne go down to 6th seed in 3 sets
16 years old wildcard Manas Dhamne was drawn to face 6th seed Florent Bax of France in the first round. Bax took the first set 6-3. Dhamne completely outclassed the french in the second set, dropping only 4 points and eventually winning the set 6-0 to force a decider. The 6th seed broke early in the final set and won the match 6-3 0-6 6-4.
Bax will next take on qualifier Grigory Shebekin who defeated Rishi Reddy 6-1 3-6 6-3 in the first round.
Easy wins for Ramkumar Ramanathan and Siddharth Vishwakarma in the opening round
3rd seed Ramkumar Ramanathan got better of his Thai opponent Thanapet Chanta in straight sets 6-4 6-4. Ramanathan will next face Korea’s Yunseok Jang who defeated Siddhant Banthia 6-1 6-2 in his first round clash.
Another Indian seed Siddharth Vishwakarma defeated compatriot Nitin Kumar Sinha 6-1 6-4. The 7th seed will now face Woobin Shin of Korea for a place in the QF. Shin defeated indian qualifier Aditya Vishal Balsekar 6-4 6-4 in the opening round.
Qualifier Chirag Duhan makes a comeback win against lucky loser Raghav Jaisinghani
20 years old Chirag Duhan who was competing in Tunisia for the last 3 weeks emerged victorious against Jaisinghani. The lucky loser won the first set 6-3 before Chirag made a comeback to win the next two sets 6-4 6-0 and set up an exciting clash against Karan Singh in the second round.
Tough loss for 8th seed Sidharth Rawat and qualifiers Dev Javia & Manish Ganesh
Thailand’s Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul defeated 8th seed Rawat 6-0 4-6 6-2 to set up his 2nd round match against Japanese Yuichiro Inui who defeated wildcard Jagmeet Singh 6-0 6-1.
Qualifier Dev Javia lost his first round match to malaysian Mitsuki Leong 3-6 4-6. Mitsuki will face Manish Sureshkumar who yesterday defeated 2nd seed in his opener.
Another qualifier Manish Ganesh went down to 5th seed Vietnam’s Hoang Nam Ly in straight sets 6-4 6-2.
