“I’m really happy to get two trophies in front of my child” – Saketh Myneni

Saketh Myneni spoke to the press after winning the ATP Bengaluru Open Challenger with Ramkumar Ramanathan.

Thoughts on the title win

It’s a good run this week as It’s tough conditions especially with the altitude. We played well with our big serves and being aggressive from the baseline and we dictated from the beginning.

That’s what really matters in doubles especially. The players who come out really swinging I think have a good advantage. Me and Ram gelled well and we’ve done it in the past, that really helped us even in the final today.

On breaking back into the top-100.

I haven’t really looked at the rankings. Unfortunately last year I didn’t play throughout the year. However, the good thing was, I was trying to spend time with the family and my ranking went down a little bit but that’s just part of it.

You just have to compete and do well. The rankings will come by. You have to put your ranking up so that you can play at the big level.

On the upcoming Paris Olympics.

It’s a long way away now. At the moment for me, it’s important to get as many matches as possible, do the best and keep improving. Doubles is never easy, especially as it’s a team game and you have to put it together as a team and get results to give ourselves a chance for the Paris Olympics coming later this year.

You have your child travelling with you?

Yeah it’s great having him the last two weeks, it’s been an honour. Hopefully the guy has memories and I have memories with my wife and the little guy and I’m really happy to get two trophies in front of him.
