Eight young Indian tennis players have been included in the government’s TOPS Development and Target Asian Games Group (TAGG) programmes, while two athletes previously in TAGG have been promoted to TOPS Development.
Rethin Pranav and Kriish Tyagi have been added directly to TOPS Development. Six players in the 14–18 age group — Srishti Kiran (14), Jensi Dipakbhai Kanabar (14), Tavish Pahwa (16), Kshitij Aradhya (17), Arjun Rathi (18), and Arnav Paparkar (18) — have been selected for TAGG.
Manas Dhamne and Vaishnavi Adkar, who were previously supported under TAGG, have been moved up to TOPS Development based on their progress.
The TOPS Development and TAGG programmes, run through the Sports Authority of India and the Mission Olympic Cell, give selected athletes access to international competition exposure, coaching, sports science support, physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, and equipment.
AITA Secretary General Sunder Iyer confirmed the selections and said the association would continue working with the government, SAI, MOC, state associations, academies and coaches to support the players’ development pathway from junior to professional tennis.
