ITF W15 Gurugram

The first round of the ITF W15 Gurugram at The Tennis Project has concluded, with eight Indian players advancing to the Round of 16, including several who emerged from the qualifying rounds. Under the directorship of Indian BJK Cup captain Vishal Uppal, this week’s event continues to serve as a crucial stepping stone for emerging Indian talent. Last week’s tournament at the same venue, which featured all-Indian finals in both singles and doubles, has set an encouraging tone for another week of competitive tennis. That momentum has carried forward this week, with some compelling first-round action.

Similarly, unranked qualifier Laxmisiri Dandu continued her hot streak from the qualifying rounds, overpowering her compatriot Laalitya Kalluri (#1209) 6-0, 6-1.

The success wasn’t limited to upsets. Top seed Zeel Desai started her campaign with a solid 6-3, 6-0 win against Indian qualifier Sohini Sanjay Mohanty, while second seed Akanksha Dileep Nitture also advanced with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory over qualifier Aahan.
