Indian Tennis Veteran Vishnu Vardhan shines at ITF M15 Thailand

Thailand witnessed a display of grit and determination by Indian tennis players at the ITF M15 tournament. The highlight was undoubtedly the performance of 36-year-old Olympian Vishnu Vardhan, who made a remarkable run to the singles semifinals.

Vardhan, starting from the qualifying rounds, defied expectations with his inspiring journey. His quarterfinal victory against Amit Vales of Israel (6-4, 7-6(5)) was a testament to his skill and tenacity. Though fatigue caught up with him in the semifinals, leading to a 2-6, 4-6 loss to Jirat Navasirisomboon of Thailand, Vardhan’s achievement as the sole Indian semifinalist on the pro tour this week was commendable.

The veteran Olympian also teamed up with 24-year-old Adil Kalyanpur in the doubles event, showcasing a blend of experience and youthful energy. The duo fought their way to the finals, where they narrowly lost to the Thai-Filipino pair of Maximus Jones and Francis Alcantara in a thrilling super tie-break (6-2, 5-7, 8-10).

Vardhan’s impressive singles performance and his successful doubles partnership with Kalyanpur underline the depth and potential of Indian tennis, inspiring a new generation of players. Their achievements at the ITF M15 Thailand tournament serve as a reminder that age is no barrier to success in the pursuit of passion and excellence.
