Sumit Nagal Soars to Career High Ranking of 80 After Epic Monte-Carlo Run

Indian Tennis star Sumit Nagal continues to scale new heights, as he will move up 13 spots to be ranked 80th when the latest ATP Rankings are released on Monday, 15th April. Nagal’s latest surge comes on the back of a great run at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, where he became the first Indian ever to win an ATP Masters 1000 singles main draw match on clay.

Nagal’s run included wins over 61st ranked Flavio Cobolli, 55th ranked Facundo Diaz Acosta, and 38th ranked Matteo Arnaldi. Nagal’s run was halted by 7th ranked Holger Rune, but not before a tight tussle where Nagal managed to push the Dane into the 3rd set. Rune later beat Dimitrov and pushed reigning Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner to three sets in the quarter-final.
