Sahaja Yamalapalli enters QF; Shrivalli/Vaidehi upset 2nd seed to reach doubles semis at W35 Nagpur

Fifth-seeded Sahaja Yamalapalli advanced to the quarterfinals, imparting a tennis lesson to young wildcard Sonal Patil with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory. Meanwhile, experienced Russian Ekaterina Yashina showcased her strength by overpowering Indian qualifier, Soha Sadiq, with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-1 in their round of sixteen matches today. In the upcoming quarterfinals, Sahaja is set to face Dayeon Back of Korea.

The Indian duo of Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty and Vaidehi Chaudhari raised the Indian flag high by reaching the doubles semifinals. They caused an upset by defeating second seeds Fanny Ostlund of Sweden and Russian Ekaterina Yashina with a score of 6-2, 7-6(0) in today’s quarterfinals.

In the singles event at the W35 Maha Urja Nagpur Open ITF Women’s Championships, Korean Yeonwoo Ku caused an upset by defeating top seed Irina Maria Bara of Romania with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, securing her spot in the quarterfinals.

Seventh-seeded Miriana Tona of Italy faced a tough challenge from Russian qualifier Anastasia Zolotareva before clinching victory with a scoreline of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
