“I did not expect us to combine so well” – Parikshit Somani, after moving into the ATP Pune Challenger Doubles QF with Siddhant Banthia

Wildcards Parikshit Somani and Siddhant Banthia registered a come-from-behind victory over the experienced pair of Luca Margaroli and Goncalo Oliveira, winning 5-7, 7-6(5), 10-5 at the Maha Open ATP Challenger being played at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune.

Both players shared their thoughts after the match:

Parikshit Somani – “It was a good match overall. We were clearly not the favorites going into the match. But we were aware that we are playing two good guys. Siddhant (Banthia) and I are not actually playing together for the first time. We have played in Juniors before and have won a few titles together, then he went to the US for College Tennis. So we were playing together after 5-6 years. I’m actually happy with the way we played. I did not expect us to combine so well.”

Siddhant Banthia – “I knew we had to coordinate well, especially to perform well at the ATP Challenger level. Our main aspect was to focus on things we do good, stick to our strengths, and have fun out there. Eventually it clicked,” said Siddhant Banthia after the match.”
