After India’s disappointing loss to Denmark in the Davis Cup World Group I tie, it is now relegated to World Group II. This article aims to analyse India’s next possible opponents.

These will be 24 nations which will be part of Group 2 ties in September-

7 from Asia ( India, China, Pakistan, Lebanon, Thailand, Hongkong and Indonesia), 7 from Europe ( Poland, Latvia, Ireland, Slovenia, Georgia , Luxembourg and Monaco) , 4 from Central America (Mexico, Barbados, El Salvador and Jamaica), 3 from Africa (Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco) , 2 from South America (Ecuador and Uruguay) and 1 from Oceania (New Zealand).

12 of the nations will be seeded based on the latest Davis Cup rankings which will be updated in a day or two. But, if we take the current rankings, we will be second seeded team after Ecuador and 12 seeds will be Ecuador, India , Mexico, Pakistan, New Zealand, Uruguay, Lebanon, Slovenia, Poland, Tunisia, Barbados, and Latvia.

So, we will meet one of the other 12 unseeded nations which will be from among:
Hongkong (away)
El Salvador (toss)
Egypt (home)
Morocco (toss)
Indonesia (away)
Ireland (home)
Monaco (home)
Jamaica (toss)
China (home)
Thailand (home)
Georgia (toss)
Luxembourg (toss)

UPDATE (7th Feb)

The rankings are updated and we are now down to #40 in the rankings which is fair after our loss to Denmark. But, still are #2 among 24 nations in group 2. But, there are a couple of changes in bottom 12 who are our likely opponents. Hongkong and El Salvador have moved ahead in rankings and are into top 12 now and Latvia and Barbados have moved down.

So, these are the likely match-ups now-
