“Maybe I’ll see you next year” – Sania Mirza after finishing runner-up at WTA500 Charleston Open

Sania Mirza is playing the last season of her tennis career and seems to enjoying all her matches. Sania has made it to the QFs or better in 5 out of the 8 tournaments she has played this season. She played with another veteran Lucie Hradecka at the WTA500 Charleston Open in South Carolina where the pair ended as runner-up.

Sania thanked Lucie for playing with her and said “We just started a new partnership so we’ve played three tournaments together and we’re playing pretty solid so thanks for playing with me”. Sania also mentioned that Charleston is very special to her and she has a lot of memories here having won a couple of times and also turning number one in the world here in 2015.

At the presentation ceremony, Sania thanked the sponsors (Credit One) and the Navarro family, who holds special interest in tennis and are the owners of Charleston Open. Sania said “It’s one of our favourite spots and I think all the players will agree with that.” She thanked the tournament director Pam for making it happen and ended her speech saying that “Maybe I’ll see you next year.”

Lucie thanked Sania for playing with her. It was Lucie’s third final as well at Charleston. The presenter thanked Sania and said “On behalf of every mom out here, thanks for showing you could be Mom and you can make it through the Championship weekend.”

The pair of Sania Mirza and Lucie Hradecka will be seen next playing at WTA1000 Mutua Madrid Open in Spain which begins from 28th April, 2022.
