Ramkumar Ramanathan lost a tight three setter to Japan’s Taro Daniel earlier today at the ATP 250 Singapore Open. After playing a fiery second set tiebreak, Ramkumar could not keep up the momentum in the third set, eventually losing 3-6 7-6(3) 3-6 to the higher ranked Japanese player

Following are opponent Taro Daniel’s thoughts on the match –

“I knew he had the capacity to serve very well. But his first serve percentage in the 1st set was very low, so I was able to break him early in that set. That gave me control, and I knew I had the upper hand once the rallies started. But he really upped his game in the 2nd set. He started going for both the first serve and the second serve, which was difficult for me to deal with. In the 3rd set, I went back further behind the “Singapore” sign just to give him a different vision. It turned out to be a good move for me”
