It was a fairly quiet week for our boys and girls across the world, especially in the singles, as the likes of Prajnesh Gunneswaran, Sumit Nagal and Ramkumar Ramanathan, had below-par results. The only bright spot was Divij Sharan’s doubles win at the big ATP 125 Jinan Challenger in China, partnering Australia’s Matthew Ebden. Summary below –

Divij/Ebden grab title in Jinan – ATP 125 Jinan Challenger :

Coming into the tournament as top seeds, the Indo-Aussie pairing of Divij/Ebden wouldn’t have settled for anything lesser than a title. Barring a couple of hiccups along the way, the path was fairly comfortable.

There was a lot of Indian participation in the same event as well, with Prajnesh Gunneswaran being the top seed in the singles draw. He lost out to Japanese veteran Go Soeda in three sets in the quarter-final though. Young Mukund Sasikumar did not have enough left in the tank after his run to both the singles and doubles finals in Baotou the week before.
